Dr. Elhai primarily conducts research on cyberpsychology and internet addictions. Dr. Elhai previously conducted research on psychological trauma and PTSD, but this is no longer his focus. He has published more than 400 papers - primarily empirical studies. He has presented his research at meetings of such organizations as the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, Anxiety and Depression Association of America, International Society for the Study of Behavioral Addictions, Society for Computers in Psychology, and CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy & Social Networking Conference. He is Editorial Board Member for several journals. He has published several books on trauma and PTSD.
Dr. Elhai occasionally serves as a forensic psychological expert witness.
Dr. Elhai teaches undergraduate courses on abnormal psychology and research methodology, and graduate courses on psychological assessment, research design, and advanced data analysis (e.g., latent variable modeling, R programming and analysis). He mentors graduate students on their master's theses and doctoral dissertations, and undergraduate students on their honors' theses.
