  • Jon D. Elhai received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2000 from Nova Southeastern University's Center for Psychological Studies. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in 2002 at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and Charleston Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center.

    Dr. Elhai now serves as Professor in the University of Toledo's Department of Psychology (primary appointment) and Department of Psychiatry (joint appointment), in Toledo, Ohio. He is affiliated with the Anxiety and Stress Lab.

    Dr. Elhai conducts research on psychological trauma and PTSD. He also conducts research on cyberpsychology. He has published more than 200 papers - primarily empirical studies. He has presented his research at meetings of such organizations as the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and Society for Computers in Psychology. He is Editorial Board Member for several journals. He has published several books on traumatic stress.

    Dr. Elhai occasionally serves as a forensic psychological expert witness, primarily on PTSD cases.

    Dr. Elhai teaches undergraduate courses on abnormal psychology and research methodology, and graduate courses on cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, research design, and multivariate statistics. He mentors graduate students on their master's theses and doctoral dissertations, and undergraduate students on their honors' theses.
