Dr. Zhang earned his BS in applied mathematics from Jilin University of China in 1984, his MS in metal physics from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987, and his PhD in materials science from The Ohio State University in 1991. He has been teaching solid mechanics, statistics, manufacturing processes since joining the University of Toledo. His main research intersts are material joining, metal forming, structural optimization, and manufacturing processes.
