overview

  • I became an ADN, RN in 1985 upon graduating from Owen's Technical College. I worked for many years in a wide variety of areas-mainly Critical Care and ER. I have held various leadership and executive roles and even owned a nurse consulting firm for 5 years. In 2008, I graduated from Spring Arbor University with my BSN & a minor in Leadership. In 2011, I completed my MSN specializing in Nursing Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2016, I completed my DNP with a specialty in Leadership from The University of Toledo. I worked as a bedside nurse for 31 years and have worked in academia for over 15 years-7 years as a full-time instructor at UT. I am surrently the DNP Program Director and have previously served as the UT CON Undergraduate Programs Director (BSN & RN-BSN). I am published, I am committed to working towards a goal of publishing and my publication history began in 2010 while working with Dr. Paul Rega.  Our Evacuation article is in The Journal of Disaster Medicine. I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the National League for Nursing, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. I appreciate a collaborative work environment where everyone contributes to the overall success of the workplace and all share the unified priority of caring for our atidents, patients, our team, and oneself. My research interest is in the realm of Workplace Violence and 
    The Use of Plain Language in Healthcare. I continue to write and work on the topics of Nursing Translational Research specifically Implementation Science and Evidence-based Practice in the specialty areas of Leadership, Critical care, Stroke Care, Nursing Leadership, and Nursing Education. I have expereince teachign at all levels of higher education and working with BSN, MSN, and DNP students.
