My journey in the U.S. medical field began with residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in July 2015. Upon completing my residency in 2018, I joined the Hospital Medicine Department as an Assistant Professor. This role has allowed me to excel in patient care within hospital settings, while also mentoring and supervising medical students at the University of Toledo Medical Center. It's a privilege to contribute to the development of future physicians and educators. Over the past six years, my commitment to education and service has been consistently recognized through positive feedback from patients and students alike.
Post-residency, I achieved board certification in Internal Medicine, providing care to numerous inpatients and earning positive patient reviews and expressions of gratitude. Importantly, I frequently receive thank-you letters from discharged patients, underscoring the impact of my care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I proudly served the Toledo community on the frontlines, overcoming challenges and making significant sacrifices to deliver essential care.
I take pride in surpassing expectations in teaching. Actively engaged in mentoring and evaluating medical students, I foster a supportive learning environment. I actively engage with third and fourth-year medical students during their hospital medicine rotations, ensuring they encounter a wide array of pathologies and medical scenarios while caring for admitted patients. Through hands-on teaching, I facilitate their understanding of complex medical conditions and provide practical guidance in clinical decision-making. Students benefit from my structured approach to teaching, which includes daily bedside rounds, case discussions, and exposure to diverse patient demographics and conditions. This immersive experience equips them with the skills and confidence needed to navigate real-world challenges in hospital medicine.
Central to my role has been my dedication as a mentor to several medical students at the University of Toledo, guiding them through critical stages of their education and career development. I provide personalized mentorship that extends beyond clinical training to include discussions on career paths and the selection of their future specialty. Through one-on-one sessions, I have helped students navigate the complexities of medical specialties, ensuring they make informed decisions aligned with their aspirations and strengths. The feedback I have received underscores my impact, with students expressing gratitude for my guidance in shaping their professional identities and preparing them for the challenges ahead.
I've also involved numerous medical students in research projects, resulting in publications in medical journals. The students have provided excellent evaluations, with comments such as: “Dr. Mansur is one of the best physicians I have encountered in my clinical career. He is kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about his patients and students,” and “Dr. Mansur was an outstanding preceptor. He provided us with appropriate responsibilities, taught important concepts during rounds, and exhibited exceptional bedside manner. I learned a great deal from him and aspire to follow his example in my future practice.”
As part of my responsibilities, I deliver presentations to medical students on topics including Pneumonia, Delirium in Hospitalized Patients, and Management of Acid-Base Abnormalities. Collaboration with General Internal Medicine has expanded my teaching opportunities, including supervising consult rotations for Internal Medicine residents.
In addition to my educational responsibilities, I actively participate in hospital committees that play pivotal roles in improving patient care and operational efficiencies. As a member of the Readmission Reduction Committee, I collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to analyze readmission patterns, identify contributing factors, and implement strategies to enhance patient outcomes and reduce hospital readmissions. Through data-driven initiatives and protocol refinements, we aim to optimize transitional care processes and patient education, ultimately improving the continuity of care and reducing healthcare costs.
In conclusion, my passion, dedication, and expertise position me as a strong candidate for promotion to Associate Professor in the Clinical Educator Track. I remain committed to advancing Hospital Medicine education and clinical practice, striving to deliver optimal care to our patients. I eagerly anticipate your consideration of my application for this promotion.
