In the absence of exercise training, rats selectively bred for high intrinsic aerobic capacity (high-capacity running (HCR)) are protected against ovariectomy (OVX)-induced insulin resistance (IR) and obesity compared with those bred for low intrinsic aerobic capacity (low-capacity running (LCR)).
