TechFest 2022: Building an Equitable Technology Future, Massachussetts College of Liberal Arts.
From design to discourse to use in the classroom and campus, technology plays a key role in either perpetuating or disrupting ableist assumptions that disenfranchise disabled students, staff, and faculty. In this keynote address, Dr. Rebecca Monteleone will discuss moving beyond an understanding of accessibility that is strictly linked to compliance with the law or the assimilation of disabled people into nondisabled spaces. Instead, she will argue for new conceptualizations of access, accommodation, and assistive technology that are rooted in the expertise of disabled people and the unique contributions of disability cultures.
