description

  • This talk addresses work currently underway that intends to broaden the ethnomathematics scholarship. The foundation of this research rests on D’Ambrosio’s (1985) definition of ethnomathematics. The framework is built up using Bishop’s (1991) activities and we use Etuaptmumk, Two-Eyed Seeing, as a lens for situating views of the insider and outsider. School-aged children with the guidance of a Native teacher constructed the Penobscot hemispherical lodge; this is the story of how this occurred.
