description

  • Title: Antimicrobial characteristics of a scrub set with and without a MicroBlock™ coating while being worn by nursing staff in an acute care environment. Problem Statement: Approximately 1.7 million hospital-acquired infections occur annually, causing or contributing to 99,000 deaths. A primary means of transmission of microorganisms in the hospital is from staff’s apparel or “scrubs” that can serve as a vector. The research team has developed a coating (MicroBlock™), when applied to scrub fabric in vitro demonstrates antimicrobial characteristics. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the antimicrobial characteristics of scrubs worn by nursing staff in a hospital environment that have and have not been treated with MicroBlock™ coating.
