description

  • This activity engages children in creating unique mathematical art using personalized tessellation creations. The activity is initiated with students creating sidewalk tessellations with large, unique tessellation pieces and then is followed with creating a smaller tessellation piece that is copied, colored, and then ironed onto a tee shirt (the ironing is done by an adult). During the process children use their body to experience geometric transformations of translation, rotation, and glide reflections.
