  • Dr Burgess grew up in Northeast Ohio and Washington DC. He attended college at the University of Pennsylvania where he received degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Biology. He completed his MD and PhD as part of the Medical Scientist Program at the Ohio State University. His PhD was focused on high field magnetic resonance imaging and his thesis was title: "Human Neuroimaging at 7T." After Neurology Residency at Washington University in St Louis, he completed a 2 year clinical and research fellowship in Vascular Neurology at the NIH. He was a stroke physician at Georgetown University for 4 years with a research focus on stroke imaging and treatment selection clinical trials. He subsequently completed the ACGME Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He then joined Cadence Health/Northwestern University in Chicago as a stroke physician and neurointerventional surgeon. Most recently, Dr. Burgess joined the faculty at the University of Toledo department of Neurology.
