Biography – Dr. Mona Hassan

Upon the completion of my Gastroenterology fellowship and subsequent Transplant Hepatology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, I made the transition to the University of Toledo in February 2019. My enthusiasm for academic medicine drove me to pursue a role at an institution dedicated to education, research, social responsibility, and collaboration.

Since my days in medical school, I have been captivated by the realms of education and research. This fascination was ignited during a rotation at The Royal London Hospital, where I had the privilege of working alongside academic physicians specializing in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. Witnessing their dedication to education and research had a profound impact on me, inspiring a lifelong commitment to learning, teaching and innovation.

During my time at the University of Toledo, I took a creative turn by publishing a book titled "Steps to Happiness," which has garnered significant interest and received positive reviews. This book was inspired by a desire to provide support to individuals navigating their journey towards emotional fulfillment and overcoming life’s challenges. I have further explored this theme as a guest on podcasts, engaging in conversations about happiness and offering insights on how to lead a more fulfilling life.

Through these accomplishments and experiences highlighted in this self-assessment, I aim to emphasize my dedication to excellence in clinical practice, education, and scholarly pursuits. I am immensely grateful to the University of Toledo for the opportunities that have shaped my career and enabled my success. I am committed to upholding the institution’s mission, and I am eager to contribute to the advancement of the field of academic medicine, and to support the development of future healthcare professionals.
