Dr. Margaret M. (Miggy) Hopkins is a Professor of Management in the College of Business and Innovation at the University of Toledo, teaching leadership and management to Executive MBA, MBA, and upper-level undergraduate students. Her area of expertise is leadership and leadership development, including emotional intelligence, executive coaching and gender and leadership.
She has received several awards for her teaching, research and service from her college and university. She has also received Best Paper research awards from the Academy of Management, where she served as an elected executive committee member of the Management Education and Development Division for six years. She is currently an Associate Editor of the Frontiers Journal in Organizational Psychology. She has published in a wide range of journals such as the Annual Review of High Performance Coaching and Consulting, Career Development International, Consulting Psychology Journal, Human Resource Management, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management Development, Journal of Management Education, Journal of Managerial Psychology, as well as in several edited volumes.
Dr. Hopkins has been a master executive coach for over 20 years. She has worked with a broad array of clients in the service, manufacturing, education, government and non-profit sectors. A sample list of organizations with which she has worked includes Alcoa, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Fifth Third Bank, J. M. Smucker, and University Hospitals.
Prior to joining academia, she held a number of managerial roles in the private and public sectors including Chair of the Board of Education for the Cleveland, Ohio Municipal School District; Co-Director of the Mayor’s Office of Competitiveness in Cleveland, Ohio; Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office for Northeast Ohio; and Acquisitions Editor for Allyn and Bacon Publishing Company. She earned her undergraduate degree from Boston College, and her masters’ and doctoral degrees in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University.
