overview

  • I am a registered nurse and board certified in rehabilitation nursing. I am an elected Fellow in the American Stroke Association and the American Academy of Nursing. My main teaching duties are in the baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs at the university where I teach courses in nursing research and advanced nursing research. I have also been part of an interdisciplinary team of instructors that developed and taught a curriculum for medical students and other professional disciplines, such as occupational and physical therapy graduate students, related to healthcare team roles. In 2010, I served as President of the 5000+ member Association of Rehabilitation Nurses with 10,000 certified nurses in the specialty. In 2014, I was appointed the Associate Editor for the Rehabilitation Nursing journal published by Wolters-Kluwer (impact factor 1.156). My scholarship responsibilities include a program of research that is focused on chronic conditions related to brain injury (stroke and dementia), caring, family caregivers, and web-based education and support.
