Larissa Barclay received her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Oakland University in April 2010. She became a Registered Nurse in 1994 and completed a post-master certification for Adult Nurse Practitioner at Wayne State University and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner post-master certification at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Barclay joined the University of ToledoCollege of Nursing in 2017 and serves as Track Coordinator and Lead Faculty for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track in the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program. She has taught adult medical surgical and FNP courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and has experience teaching online courses in BSN and MSN programs.
Professionally, Dr. Barclay has worked as an advanced practice nurse in primary care, long-term care, wound care, partial hospitalization, outpatient, and inpatient psychiatry. She currently practices in a partial psychiatric hospitalization and outpatient psychiatry service. Her research interests lie in Mental Health, Mental Health Risk Reduction, Long-Term Care, Stroke Care, Aphasia, Aphasia and Depression, Dementia and Caregivers, Caregiver Burnout, Nursing Burnout, Lateral Violence in Nursing, and Wound Care.
