Dr. James F. Oberlander, PhD, MSN, RN
BSN Nursing Instructor and Track Director | Active Learning Advocate | Faculty MentorAs a nurse educator with a PhD in Nursing Education, Dr. Oberlander specializes in transforming nursing education through Active Learning in Nursing Education (ALINE) methodologies. Their didactic and clinical teaching focuses on creating dynamic learning environments where students develop clinical reasoning through simulation-based exercises, case studies, NCLEX practice questions, and interprofessional collaboration.
Dr. Oberlander takes particular pride in mentoring both students and fellow faculty members. Through one-on-one student advising and faculty development programs, they work collaboratively with educators to integrate active learning strategies into the curricula. This approach combines evidence-based models with practical classroom techniques that improve knowledge retention and clinical preparedness.
Although at the beginning of their scholarship journey, Dr. Oberlander has already contributed to multiple publications centered on enhancing student outcomes in online education and in practical clinical settings. As an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International, they help shape the future of nursing education through committee work and conference presentations. Additionally, they are serving a two-year term as Vice President in their local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.
With over 20 years of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Oberlander brings a real-world perspective to their educational philosophy. Throughout their service, scholarship, and teaching, they remain committed to lifelong learning and professional growth.
