overview

  • My name is David Sohn, and I am an academic Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toledo Medical Center.  I specialize in Shoulder and Sports Medicine, and have been the Head Orthopaedic Team Physician for the Toledo Football Rockets for the past 10 years.  I also am an attorney, and combine my law and medicine background as a nationally recognized speaker and writer on the medical-legal risks of prescribing pain medications.  I am significantly invested in teaching, and teach both didactics and clinicals for surgeons, nurses, residents and students at the national, state, regional and institutional levels.  My clinical interests are in shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty, sports medicine, complex knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and hip arthroscopy.  I am active in research in the same topics, and have published in each of these areas.  I have a particular interest in healthy policy, having served as a White House Policy Fellow, and participate in advocacy and Capitol Hill Days to promote musculoskeletal research and care.  I also have an interest in medical ethics, and was asked to be the faculty advisor for the medical school's ethics society.  I consider this a great honor, as the greatest legacy of a teaching physician, in my opinion, is the training of a generation of skilled, knowledgeable and ethical physicians.
