Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has killed over 70,000 Ukrainian soldiers and has injured over 120,000 more. The war has displaced over 10 million people and has embroiled the United States into severe domestic political debates over ongoing support for Ukraine. Guided by PEN America’s media literacy guidelines, this presentation hopes to discuss strategies for developing the basic tools and processes for critical thinking for librarians, library staff, and the public to analyze and distinguish the misinformation, disinformation, and facts surrounding this topic. Our goal is to promote an awareness and facilitate an educational and civil discussion.
