<p>I originally received a revise and resubmit from the journal Studies in American Political Development in the spring of 2021. Updated 9/16/22: Instead of a resubmit to SAPD, I submitted this manuscript as a chapter to an edited book project entitled Placing Parties in American Political Development, which is currently under review by University of Pennsylvania Press. I received email notification from the book editor that my chapter was accepted in the first round without any further revision needed. The book is now forthcoming in 2025.</p>
