In Fall 2018, I gave a talk on a specific character development in the television series Angel, namely, Fred, or Winifred Burkle, who is taken over by a monstrous immortal being, Illyria. I gave my first version of this talk during Summer 2018 at the Slayage Conference on the Whedonverses in Alabama. For this talk, I was able to extend my character analysis from the TV show to include discussion of the comics that continued the storyline after the television series ended.
