This chapter is published in a twentieth-anniversary retrospective of Dollhouse, a show from 2009, edited by Heather Porter and Micheal Starr. My abstract was accepted in Fall 2018 and the essay itself was accepted Summer 2019. The essay was published in 2022.
My chapter focuses on two unconventional season finales for a show about mind-wiping and body-swapping that raises philosophical questions about the relations between individuals and the institutions that bring them into being. My paper questions whether anyone deserves eternal life in a dystopian transhuman future where only those with the money to buy "bodies" live endless lives.
