description

  • Treatment integrity refers to the degree to which an intervention is implemented as intended. The purpose of this study was to systematically review school counseling interventions published in the Professional School Counseling (PSC) between 1997 and 2018. A total of 67 intervention studies on students from pre-K-12 were identified analyzed. Results showed more than half (55%; n = 37) of the interventions were operationally defined; 16.4% (n = 11) studies mentioned and monitored treatment integrity; but only 6% (n = 4) systematically assessed and reported treatment integrity. Study results provide insight into characteristics of interventions implemented in school counseling and publication trends since 1997. Implications of the results to evidence-based school counseling practice and future research were discussed.
