description

  • Within this book we provide a comprehensive examination of human-animal interaction (HAI) and its relevance to helping professionals, specifically to social work. We present and analyze related empirical research and practice guidelines on a range of HAI topics, such as: the import of HAI for social work; the link between violence toward animals and violence toward people; therapeutic roles of animals; cultural diversity and HAI; HAI and older adults; and HAI and family systems. My former student Scott Wehman initially started working on this book with me as a graduate student, and co-authored it with me. I've attached the table of contents and a sample chapter.
