  • Yara E. Tovar, MD, MS, ABOM, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. She is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and Obesity Medicine and completed advanced fellowship training in Obesity Medicine.

    Her clinical and academic interests include obesity medicine, diabetes, endocrine disorders, multidisciplinary obesity care, and improving access to evidence-based obesity treatment. Dr. Tovar is actively involved in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and endocrinology fellows and is committed to evidence-based, compassionate, patient-centered care.

    She has contributed to the development of multidisciplinary obesity services at the University of Toledo and collaborates with Bariatric Surgery and other specialties to improve the coordination and delivery of obesity care. Her scholarly interests include obesity medicine, healthcare access, quality improvement, and clinical endocrinology, with a focus on expanding evidence-based treatment options for patients with obesity and endocrine disorders.
