Benjamin George is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management at the University of Toledo, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Management Science from the University of North Texas. Prior academic appointments include Assistant Professor of Business Analytics at the University of South Dakota and Associate Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse.
Over the course of his career, he has published in more than a dozen journals and has more than sixty conference presentations and proceedings in quantitative and analytical business research. Journals where his published articles have appeared include Industrial Marketing Management, Decision Sciences, Information and Management, Journal of Information Systems, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, Quality and Quantity, Journal of Modelling in Management, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, Quality Management Journal, and Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy. His current research interests include novel applications of text mining techniques, operational analytics, supply chain resilience and cognitive capabilities, blockchain applications in supply chains, e-commerce and electronic word of mouth, AI and machine learning applications in quality management and sustainability, and the evolution of business analytics.
He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Analytics and a reviewer for a variety of distinguished national and international journals, publishers, and conferences. In addition, he has served as Guest Editor for a Joint Special Issue on “Internet User Behavior Under the Background of Big Data” with Behavioral Sciences & the Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research, as well as a special issue in the Journal of Business Analytics, entitled 'New Generation AI Models and Techniques: Challenges and Opportunities for Business Analytics”. He is currently serving as co-editor of the special issue “Human Behavior in the Age of Agentic AI: Trust, Adoption and Interaction Dynamics” in Behavioral Sciences, with submissions closing in March 2027.
At the University of Toledo, he has co-chaired six doctoral dissertations and has also served on the dissertation committees of several additional students, both in the Neff College of Business and Innovation and the College of Engineering. His doctoral students have examined topics such as supply chain resilience and cognitive capabilities, blockchain adoption in supply chains, AI and machine learning applications in quality management and operations, social media impacts in the workplace, and innovation under uncertainty, using methods including empirical Modelling, text mining, configurational analysis, and dynamic capability frameworks.
Benjamin has been involved in a range of grant-funded and affiliated consulting opportunities across multiple industries over the course of his academic career. He is well-versed in a variety of analytical and quantitative methods and applications. His primary areas of expertise include applied analytics, natural language processing, predictive and prescriptive model development and deployment, quality management, and business process evaluation and improvement. Projects have included statistical model evaluation and compliance analysis for federal and state income tax refund models used by large financial services firms, facility evaluation and planning for a mid-sized municipality, executive education and corporate training, and installation of a laboratory information system for a NELAP-certified municipal laboratory.
